Frank Cichello
OH&S Manager – Occupational Health & SafetyI am a passionate safety professional who has spent the last 8 years in the residential construction industry working as the AHB Group OH&S and Environmental Manager. I have been working in construction for a total of 13 years.
I started at the AHB Group as an OH&S Advisor in June 2015 and was still completing my studies. In my time at the AHB Group, I have created the OH&S department which now has 5 team members, an online trade induction portal and an abundance of OH&S Policies & Procedures with a major focus on high-risk works including working at heights, working with silica, scaffolds and COVID-19. I have also created the AHB Group Safety Management Plan, Industrial Relations Plan and Procedure and Risk Management processes.
All AHB Group sites are audited on a monthly basis by the OH&S team and on a weekly basis by the construction team via the software apps Safety Culture and CodeSafe. These templates, checklists, audits and pages were all created by myself and are now used by over 150 employees.
The AHB Group now has over 300 employees, 2000 contactors and sub-contractors, all of which are under my watch when relating to OH&S.
I have been involved with the construction of over 4000 detached dwellings all over Victoria. These dwellings range from $150,000 projects right through to $3,500,000. I have more recently been part of over 120 medium density projects, which boast single, double and triple storey townhouses in the same allotment.
I have been part of the VVHBSA (Victorian Volume Home Builder Safety Alliance) board since 2016 and I am currently the Vice Chair and have been since 2019. This group also has WorkSafe, the HIA and MBAV as their members. The group works together to improve the industry and our overall objective is to ensure our industry is the leader in safety.
I am currently studying a Double Diploma of Business and Leadership Management (9 units of 13 complete).
I love my sport, racing and a beer, with a passion of doing them all together. I love a night out and don't mind a microphone in my hand, but without the singing.
